About this crossing
The B&M bridge — Brownsville & Matamoros, the "Puente Viejo" — is the elder of the Matamoros–Brownsville system: a narrow, historic span dropping from the Matamoros centro to the edge of downtown Brownsville by the university. Today it mostly carries light cars and pedestrians at a neighborhood pace; the bulk of modern traffic uses Gateway and Veterans.
