- Yes. We sync with official data from CBP and complement it with user reports to provide a more accurate view of each crossing.
- How often is the data updated?
- CBP updates wait times constantly, and our platform processes them instantly to always show the most recent information.
- Does Garitas cover all border crossings?
- Yes. We cover all official land ports of entry along the Mexico–U.S. border, including pedestrian lanes, personal vehicles, commercial lanes, and SENTRI and Ready Lane lanes. (Canada expansion coming soon).
- Do you show SENTRI and FAST lanes?
- Yes. We show the status of SENTRI (trusted travelers) and FAST (commercial cargo) lanes at all ports where they are available. This helps compare and choose the most efficient lane.
- Is Garitas free?
- Yes.
- Can I use Garitas to check SENTRI or Ready Lane times?
- Yes. We break down the official SENTRI and Ready Lane times published by CBP so you can choose the fastest lane based on your documentation.
- Does Garitas guarantee wait times?
- No. Actual wait times may vary due to random inspections, traffic, or incidents at the port of entry. We show official CBP estimates plus community reports for better accuracy.
- Can I save my favorite crossings?
- Yes, but only in the iOS App. You can save your frequent crossings and access them instantly. The Web version does not support customization.
- Which devices can I use Garitas on?

- Does it cover San Ysidro and Laredo?
- Yes. We cover the entire border:Tijuana: San Ysidro, Otay, PedWestTamaulipas: Laredo, Colombia, AnzaldúasCiudad Juárez: Paso del Norte, Zaragoza, YsletaAnd all other official ports.
- What is Ready Lane and can I use it?
- Ready Lane is an express lane for documents with RFID technology, such as the U.S. Passport Card and other compatible IDs; see the official CBP Ready Lanes page for the full list of accepted documents and usage requirements.It is faster, but you must present the physical document for scanning.
- Can I cross the border with my pet?
- DOGS: Generally 6+ months old and microchipped; review the CDC Dog Import Form & Instructions and the USDA/APHIS Dog Import Requirements for additional rules (e.g., screwworm certificate).CATS: Must appear healthy on inspection; see the official CDC Bringing Animals into the U.S. page for full details.
- Do I need the I-94 permit?
- Yes, if you travel more than 25 miles into the U.S. or stay for more than 30 days. You can request it via the CBP One app or on I-94 Online before crossing.
