The Veterans International Bridge at Los Tomates is Matamoros' modern port: it ties the city's bypass to Brownsville's US-77/83 interchange and concentrates the system's full operation — General, Ready Lane and SENTRI lanes for cars and all of the area's commercial cargo on Standard and FAST lanes. Coming from the beach, the airport or the industrial parks it skips downtown entirely, and for trucks it simply is Matamoros' gate.
