About this crossing
The Detroit–Windsor Tunnel runs under the Detroit River and connects the two downtowns in about a mile: it is the system's urban crossing, favored by commuters, fans heading to Detroit's stadiums and weekend visitors. Cars only — heavy cargo takes the Ambassador Bridge — with a NEXUS lane. Downtown games and concerts drive its peaks as much as office rush hours do.
