About this crossing
The Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge crosses the St. Marys River between the two Saults — Ontario's and Michigan's — beside the Soo Locks, where Lake Superior steps down toward Lake Huron. It is the only crossing along hundreds of kilometers of upper-Great-Lakes border: twin-city passenger traffic, steel-industry cargo, and the tourism of the locks and Algoma's fall colors.
